JEFFERSON RADIOLOGY PHYSICIAN NAMED CONNECTICUT CHILDREN’S PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR
Douglas J. Moote, M.D.

The Medical Staff of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center has named Douglas J. Moote, M.D., Physician of the Year. The announcement was made at the recent annual medical staff meeting. “It is my great privilege to present Dr. Moote

with the award for outstanding physician of the year,” said Richard Weiss, M.D., immediate past president of Connecticut Children’s medical staff. “He is frequently sought out to look at films, readily available to help with diagnostic dilemmas including off hours, always willing to teach and improve systems of care.”

“Dr. Moote is a topnotch pediatric radiologist whose clinical acumen and leadership help Connecticut Children’s provide the highest quality pediatric surgical care,” added Brendan Campbell, M.D., M.P.H., Connecticut Children’s pediatric trauma medical director. “He always makes himself available to help with our most challenging surgical cases and is highly motivated to refine and improve the systems that drive quality improvement at Connecticut Children’s.”

“Doug brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to every challenging case,” says Jeffrey Hyams, M.D., division head, Gastroenterology at Connecticut Children’s. “He is truly a partner in the care of our sickest kids.”

“Dr. Moote participates in many administrative and clinical roles both in the department of radiology and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center,” says R. Timothy Brown, M.D., chief of radiology at Connecticut Children’s. “His clinical opinion is sought after by those of us who work with him in radiology as well as our clinical partners. He is patient, caring, thoughtful and most deserving of this recognition.”

“This recognition is really a reflection of the very dedicated work of our entire team,” says Dr. Moote. “I feel very proud to have such great mentors and to have the support of everyone.”

A well-renowned lecturer and educator, Dr. Moote has published many peer-reviewed articles and research papers. He has been with Jefferson Radiology for more than 15 years and with Connecticut Children’s as a pediatric radiologist since 2000. A native of Toronto, he received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Moote completed an internship in internal medicine at Queen’s University, a residency in radiology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a fellowship in gastrointestinal radiology, abdominal interventional and ultrasound at Toronto General Hospital. He has been recognized for several years by Hartford Magazine as among the Greater Hartford Top Doctors. He is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology and sub Board Certified in Pediatric Diagnostic Radiology
