What is a Venous Extremity Ultrasound (DVT)?

Venous ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the body’s veins and the blood flowing through them. Deep vein thrombosis (or DVT) occurs when thrombus (blood clot) develops in a deep vein which may partially or completely block blood flow through your vein. Most blood clots occur in your lower leg, but they can also occur in other parts of your body.
